Introduction to the function, construction and operation of power plant electrical systems and equipment including generators, motors, switchgear and inverters.

The student will receive instruction in basic electrical theory for DC and Alternating Current systems. The student will have knowledge on the production of electricity and how to apply Ohm's Law and Power Formula. Electrical safety is taught along with skills in how to read and interpret schematic diagrams.

This course will enable the student to understand basic electrical principles and laws associated with resistance, power, voltage, and current. The student will apply electric fundamentals that are pertinent to both wind and solar PV systems.

This course is an introduction to electrical control systems with focus on control devices, electric motors, manual/electric/magnetic motor control and overload/over current protection and monitoring. Lab experience helps develop skills to operate, install, design, and troubleshoot AC electric motor control circuits for various applications.

Students will learn about the history of the energy industry, infrastructure, distribution, regulatory and security concerns, conventional, emerging, and alternative sources of power, as well as “smart grid” development, and gas distribution. This is a nationally certified course.

This course describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in larger and more complex networks. Students learn how to configure routers and switches for advanced functionality.

This course covers the fundamentals required to understand the management of a small business and the considerations that must be made in forming a new business. Topics covered in this course include startup options, capital acquisition, facilities planning, human resource management, financial management, and business plan development.

Prerequisite: AG153 Reproduction of Farm Animals or instructor's permission. This course will enable students to study in reproductive processes and management techniques in the horse including semen collection and evaluation, artificial insemination, management of mares and stallions, and current research.

Principles of effective web interaction to create and maintain an effective web presence. This includes exploration of the primary design elements of proximity, alignment, repetition, and contract, in addition to the impact of color, images, page layout and typography on an intended audience.

An in-depth study of moral, ethical, legal and professional issues and dilemmas facing individuals and organizations within the Criminal Justice system.
